Chewelah Valley Lions Club Schedules Pub Crawl Poker Fundraiser

The Chewelah Valley Lions Club brings back its popular Pub Crawl and 50/50 Poker event on Saturday, April 11, from 5 to 8 p.m. Co-chair Becky Washington highlights the blend of enjoyment and support for local services, drawing crowds after last year's success. Funds raised bolster vision and hearing programs in the community.

Event Mechanics and Participation

Tickets cost $10 each and grant access to a scorecard for the poker crawl across six venues: Sportsman’s Bar & Grill, Fired Up Pizza, Oasis Tavern, The General Store, American Legion Hall, and Quartzite Brew Pub. Participants visit each spot to draw a five-card poker hand, with options to buy extra scorecards at the same price for better chances. Co-chair Lori Gibbs notes that seated dealers at every location ensure smooth play, and winners submit hands at Fired Up Pizza for the 8:15 p.m. announcement, claiming half the ticket proceeds.

Community Impact Through Lions Services

Lions Clubs, active since their founding in 1917, prioritize vision and hearing conservation worldwide, a mission that local chapters extend through events like this pub crawl. Proceeds here fund school screenings, glasses and hearing aids for those in need, scholarships, and additional aid. Such gatherings strengthen community ties while addressing gaps in accessible health support, particularly for underserved residents.

Opportunities to Join and Contribute

The club invites newcomers to meetings at 5:30 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays each month—excluding July and August—at the American Legion Hall. Interested individuals can contact Becky Washington at (509) 990-7860 for a brochure or details. Beyond one-off events, membership offers ongoing ways to serve alongside others committed to local welfare.
